Staten Island Ferry With fewer tourist attractions and less street cred than the other boroughs, Staten Island gets few visitors beyond those who call it home. But the Staten Island Ferry remains probably the best value for money in the city. In fact, it won’t cost you any money to hop on the 5-mile, 25-minute ride, which crosses New York Harbor from the southern tip of Manhattan. Along the way, you’ll see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on one side and Governors Island on the other. The outdoor seats along the sides of the ferry are the most prized; just don’t expect your hair to arrive in the same state as it left. It’s on the return trip that the New York skyline grows majestically from something you can cup in the palm of your hand to the embracing metropolis. Source: www.NewYork.com
Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn The first bridge to connect Manhattan to another borough (and then separate city), the Brooklyn Bridge remains one of the city’s foremost sights, thanks to the combination of the iconic structure with the equally iconic skyline. So many come to admire it, in fact, that the 1.3-mile footpath sometimes slows to a crawl with crossers savoring each step… slowly. With the Brooklyn Bridge Sightseeing Bike Rentals, start on the Brooklyn side and take in Governors Island and the Statue of Liberty to your left, the Manhattan Bridge to your right. As you near the other side, keep an eye out for landmarks like One World Observatory and South Street Seaport — all infused with extra verve by the humming traffic underneath your feet.
