Sustainability - Exacta will start to offer the services of Fabric Shredding in a few weeks

1/10/2021

In our endless quest to reduce our carbon footprint, we are pleased to let our clients know we have bought a state of the art  industrial fabric shredder from Vecoplan (it shreds plastic and spandex even, one of the most difficult materials to shred). Chad Anthony from Vecoplan has been working to have it installed within a few weeks; it is arriving from Germany..

The shredded material is 100% recyclable, it reduces the waste to 1/5th. As I wrote recently to a customer, at Exacta, we are very conscientious and committed to sustainability; we are constantly
either recycling anything and everything, while looking at any and all ways to further reduce our carbon foot print.
This is mainly in memory of our dear and beloved daughter Mona Daniella, who died tragically and suddenly: she was a big activist for the environment. We will continue to uphold her principles in preservation of her memory.

Exacta is proud to present FOS Swimwear by Christina Karakoglu, a talented designer with a promising career

From FOS Swimwear website:

"Christina Karakoglou is the founder and owner of Fos Swimwear, a luxury brand of hand-crafted swimsuits, accessories and skin care products for women who value a timeless aesthetic. Influenced by Greek culture and ancient mythology, Fos swimsuits were designed to enhance self-confidence and reveal a women's inner Goddess. Each named for a Greek deity, they combine modern appeal with old-world mystery for women who crave a unique shopping experience."

We found her label to be amongst the most creative ones in a while: it comes with a small evil eye sewn into it, and you can remove it to wear it, as a charm in a bracelet, or make a bracelet by itself.

GRATEFUL

We are grateful that we can continue to manufacture and ship all over the country, providing the essential services needed while most people stay at home.

This crisis affects us all, but it does not affect us all equally. We must recognize this and help those who are truly struggling. For those of us who still have jobs, we don’t need a check. It’s the people suddenly left without a job who need a check — not a one-time thing, but an every-week thing.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of our country’s economy. Small businesses generate almost half of all the economic activity in the U.S. We are #toosmalltofail because we are too important. Money that goes to a small business stays within the local community. The same cannot be said for large corporations or chains. Give us the ability to keep our communities going, because that’s all we want to do.

We are grateful that we can
help our clients manufacture their PPE - which are so much needed by health workers.

For over 75+ years, whatever challenges New York, New Yorkers, New Jersey, and the country as a whole have weathered, our minority women owned small business company has weathered them with you and because of you. It is one of our deepest joys and highest obligations to be a bedrock of continuity for our community. We will get through this too because we plan on being here for you for another 75+ years.

Stay Safe

COVID-19 Isolation: Tips to Keep You Mentally Healthy

5/5/2020

Isolation is stressful and can hurt your mental health. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, many of us are isolated and alone. That’s in addition to dealing with anxiety about your health and the health of your loved ones.
These tips can help you maintain and even enhance your mental health when you are isolated because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
How to Stay Mentally Healthy If You’re IsolatedHere are three helpful tips to deal with COVID-19 isolation.
  • Create new routines. Routines are key for mental health and wellbeing, yet this coronavirus disruption has thrown off so many of our ordinary, predictable routines. Stay balanced by creating new routines for you and your family. Set and keep a regular sleep/wake schedule. Establish times for work and schoolwork as well as for downtime.
  • ...But avoid being rigid. Now, more than ever, the ability to be flexible is important as rules and regulations change almost daily. Be willing to adjust your routine as you go.
  • Establish new healthy habits. Regular physical exercise and healthy eating are crucial. If you can’t continue your ordinary activities, create new ones at home. YouTube is a great source for free exercise videos. Also, it’s still okay to step outside for a walk. Getting out of the house for a 30-minute walk provides a great mental health boost.
Use these tips to keep your days—and your mood—balanced for optimum mental health during the COVID-19 isolation.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

4/28/2020

Social Distancing 6 feet apart
At Exacta, we work hard to keep up to date with the news and new regulations in order to continue to work safely. We have CDC educational posters both in English and in other languages everywhere in the warehouse, and continue to discuss continuously  about Coronavirus COVID-19 with our staff. They are required to wear masks, and when needed, gloves. We have put markers on the floor every 6 feet - for social distancing.

Doing our part to contribute to social distancing at this time is simply the right and necessary thing to do. It is not, however, easy. The impact that this has on our whole community (family, staff, customers, suppliers, neighbors) has weighed on every aspect of our deliberations. We continue to monitor the situation day by day, week to week.

In addition, our staff is required to take breaks every hour to wash their hands  (they wash their hands more when needed). Staff continue to walk around the warehouse to disinfect surfaces, light switches, phones, tables, bathrooms, and the break room, among other areas. We use cleaning agents recommended by the EPA (and the CDC), that contain bleach, Clorox based products, alcohol, and/or any other cleaning agent that is effective in killing the virus.

The break room has been modified - there are 8 tables (each table is 8 ft x 3.5 ft) with 8 places in each table. Only 2 employees are permitted to have lunch at the same time in one table - and they are  seated at least 7 ft apart.

We will continue to keep updated, and follow new CDC guidelines, and new OSHA regulations for the safety of our clients, staff, families, and our community.

Stay Calm and Carry On

Tips to lower your anxiety level during the Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic:

1.     Educate yourself
Despite coronavirus being highly infectious, the mortality rate outside of China is 0.2% (compared to SARS which was about 10%.) Every year 60,000 people die of ordinary influenza and very few people outside of Wuhan province who have contracted coronavirus have died outside of the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions. Of the 45 people who’ve contracted coronavirus in Singapore, seven have already been discharged from hospital (with more headed home soon.)  So yes, be careful, wash your hands, up your hygiene, and stay home if you’re feeling unwell but you don’t have to cancel your life.

2. Avoid fear-mongers
Fear fuels fear.  Just as you try to minimize exposure to viruses, you also need to minimize exposure to people who fuel stress.

3.  Focus on what strengthens you, and stay as calm as possible

4. Double down on empowering rituals and practices
Exercise. Eat well. Get sleep. Meditate. Journal. Get out in nature. Prioritize your schedule. Do more of whatever activities recenter, recharge and reset your headspace.

5. Get on with your life as it encourages others to get on with theirs. Take sensible precautions, and then get on with your life.
Just as fear is contagious, so too is courage.

You are brave. You can do it. You have the courage.

keep calm and carry on
